ahh the long annals of forestry humor...remember sven lundstrom's strips in the old st. louis county examiner back in the 50s? there was the one where igor the red ox impaled babe the blue ox, but paul bunyan brought babe back to life with a hacksaw, pinetar, and ointments of maple syurp. of course that was when "red forest journalism" was running rampant in the northern press. its still sad what sen. mccarthy and his cronies did to old sven... he was never the same.
i am enjoying your internet postings.

Didn't he have something in the short lived Ely Worker in the late '60s. Castro was riding some logs down the Mississippi yelling "Try and stop me now, Hubert Humphrey!" while Humphrey looked on angrily from the shore. Or maybe I'm thinking of something else. Anyway, thanks for stopping by anonymous poster, keep up the good work.

also, i am reminded of this...

i remember that too, but it was actually the Castle Danger Digest. (I'm a long time reader and my great uncle founded the paper with monies from the Comitern's Ministry of Information.) Thanks for the Onion article. Another fine upper midwest periodical.
